Welcome! Here are this week’s recommended foundations. These grants will be for various types of organizations, so they may not always be a perfect fit for you. However, there will be some that are. Applications are now open for the Horne Family Foundation’s grant program 2020.

Recognizing that the organizational infrastructure is a necessity, the Foundation welcomes requests for general operating support and efforts designed to increase organizational capacity. They also encourage requests for specific program initiatives or improvements. The foundation does not accept requests for capital campaigns or expenditures relating to construction and other infrastructure improvements.

Funding Information

Grants range in size from $5,000 to $25,000.

Grant Requirements 

  • Your organization needs to have a tax identification number to be considered for a grant. 
  • Only organizations that have federal non-profit agency tax status can receive financial support from Foundation.

Geographic Focus

The Foundation distributes regional grants in Massachusetts’ Greater Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire and on a national basis. While their primary interests are with regard to regional and national focus, they will extend support to international initiatives as it specifically relates to disaster relief for people and animals and species preservation on the African continent. 

Foundation’s Consideration When Reviewing Proposals

  • Alignment with the mission and interests of the Foundation.
  • Clearly presented organization mission, goals, plans and financials.
  • Exhibit commitment to engage the community and/or participants in program development.
  • Current IRS determination letter clarifying applicant’s 501 (c)(3) status.

The Simply Organic Giving Fund Grant Program focuses on nourishing the millions of food insecure by supporting organizations that provide people access to healthy, organic food options.

Providing nourishment for the food insecure, with a focus on organics, is central to the goal of the Simply Organic Giving Fund.
 
Successful grant applications should meet one or more of the following program priorities:
 
  • Promote access to organic food options
  • Utilize and distribute organic food/meals
 
Eligibility Criteria
 
Domestic, nonprofit (501(c)(3)) tax-exempt organizations or grassroots groups serving the food insecure are encouraged to apply for Simply Organic Giving Fund grants.

With new challenges, comes the New Normal. This year, they are calling for entries for the 5 challenge sectors, as well as the new Creating the New Normal horizontal for solutions that help businesses and society adapt in the post-COVID world.
